The company had traveled to the Tower of Icy Flame in Nan Gorthrim, the Valley of the Dead.
Dagorhir found the sword Dambeth Medui amongst the treasure on the second floor.
The company fought a Great Orc with a single red eye, called the Deadly One by the Goblin horde that fought by his side.
The Widow was struck hard by the Deadly One’s black scimitar but held her ground. Bowen was poisoned and knocked unconscious. Duinhir was wounded.
Dagorhir slew the Deadly One with his new found sword. He was also able to help heal Bowen, Duinhir and the Widow.
The Witch-king’s conjuring chamber was found on the top floor of the tower. Opening the windows revealed Morgul runes on every surface.
Alaglîr was able to copy some of the runes. Dagorhir, Duinhir and The Widow tried but failed.
Bowen, on the other hand, began speaking the black speech out loud. A blast of cold air extinguished the company’s candles and torches. There was a flash of light, then the runes disappeared.
The return journey to the Refuge of the Rangers was difficult. The company, already weary from the Witch-king’s sorcery was made miserable.
When they arrived, they found that Gandalf had been joined by the Rangers Argeleb and Turgon. The company rested for a week then started out for Rivendell.
The journey was long but comfortable with Gandalf and the Rangers leading the way and providing for the company.
In Rivendell, Dagorhir researched his newfound sword and discovered this tale. He also learned of the chronicler, Egalmir. The Widow heard the story hobbit girl from Bree named Mirabella who was lost in the Barrow Downs overnight and, amazingly, survived.
